15-year-old Ethan McKendry, who needed to be pulled from the diving nicely on Sunday on the Columbus Sectional Swimming Championships, is responding nicely to remedy, his membership OLY Swimming has introduced on social media.

“Earlier immediately, we acquired phrase from the household that whereas Ethan will stay within the ICU for the time-being, he’s responding to remedy and is making progress!” the membership posted.

The staff thanked the outpouring of help from throughout the swimming neighborhood over the previous few days and requested that individuals “proceed to maintain Ethan, Ethan’s household, our OLY Swimming household, and anybody else impacted by this emergency in your ideas and prayers.”

McKendry, a rising sophomore at Grand Blanc Excessive Faculty, swam the 50 free, 50 again, 100 again, and 100 free at Sectionals.

McKendry is a lifeguard himself on the Flint Golf Membership.

After the medical emergency, the ultimate session of Columbus Sectionals on Sunday was canceled.
